Cao Xiaoxin


Biography


Mr. Cao Xiaoxin graduated from Southeast University School of Architecture, formerly known as Nanjing Institute of Technology. He is the Vice-Chief Architect of China Architecture Design & Research Group (CADG), the Manager and the Design Director of DAQI Architectural Design studio, as well as the director of the Existing Community Comprehensive Renovation Research Center at CCTC. Mr. Cao is a Grade I Registered Architect, an APEC Registered Architect, a professor and a graduate student supervisor. He is a visiting professor at Wuhan University, and International Associate member of American Institute of Architects (AIA International Associate).


Beside architectural practice and education, Mr. Cao was elected as the vice-director of the China Existing Building Renovation Committee, the China City Renovation Committee, and the vice president of the China-Asia Economic Development Association. He is the editorial board member of A+A AU Architecture Knowledge magazine, Asia Lighting magazine, and Urbanism and Architecture magazine. Mr. Cao serves as a jury member of the Red Star Design Award Committee, the China Industrial Design Expert Committee, founder and design director for the Beijing Pinar Design LLC with registered design patents. Mr. Cao is a promoter for architectural culture, interdisciplinary collaboration, and is an independent curator.

Mr. Cao is the recipient of the National Young Architects Design Excellence Award, the China Architecture Academy Global Chinese Young Architects Award, and the Top One Hundred Architects in Contemporary China Award. He is the author of The New Office Building for the People’s Procuratorate of Beijing, The Mixed and Pure of Architecture, Four Projects in One City.


His projects were featured in The Book of China Excellent Modern Young Architects, Young Architects of China, Beijing New Town, Innovation China, Chinese Architects from the Past 60 years, and Chinese Architecture A Selection 2017-2019.


Mr. Cao was invited as a speaker representing Chinese Architects at the UIA World Congress of Architects. As an educator, he was invited to speak at Universities around the world, including Canada, South Korea, and Japan. In China, he has shared his knowledge at Tsinghua University, Southeast University, Beijing Industry University, Beijing Institute of Technology, Zhejiang University, and Hunan University.  


Mr. Cao’s featured projects include the Headquarters of CSC (28000㎡, Changping District, Beijing, Built), The People’s Procuratorate of Beijing (58000㎡, Beijing, Built), Baotou Library and Children’s Club (52000㎡, Baotou, Inner Mongolia, Built), Beijing Future Technology City (Urban Design, 100000㎡, Beijing, Under Constructing), Zhaojun Museum (15000㎡, Hohhot , Inner Mongolia, Built), Dongxihu Civic Center, The Dream of the Peony Pavilion, and master plan for the Guangdong-Hongkong-Macau Greater Bay Area Zhuhai Hengqin CBD.
