Huangshi China cement Museum

This is a historical building reconstruction project. The history of the long wet cement production line of Huangshi Huaxin Cement can be traced back to 1908, which is the origin of China's cement manufacturing industry. We chose a grinding workshop built in the 1980s in the plant area, renovated its interior, kept the original structure and appearance to the maximum extent, and kept the historical appearance of the plant area.

In the design, the principle of less damage and less addition should be strictly followed. The original structure and space of the cement grinding workshop are completely preserved. The relevant functions of the museum are cleverly arranged in the existing space. The combination of exhibition and industrial space makes the rough texture and huge scale of the industrial building bring the most original and direct experience to people.

In order to protect the original structure from damage and meet the vertical traffic demand of the museum, visitors are first transported to the top floor of the building through the external large-scale escalator, and then down the stairs to visit the exhibition. There is no need to install escalators in the interior, which avoids the secondary damage to the building structure.

The exterior facade of the building is completely preserved, and the glass curtain wall added later fades behind the original structural frame, so that the original structural appearance can be clearly presented. The scale of the added external escalator is very coordinated with the surrounding industrial buildings. Steel and glass are used as the structure, which is light and transparent. It is clearly distinguished from the surrounding historical relics. At the same time, it weakens the sense of existence and minimizes the damage to the historical environment.
